Torrevieja is a town in the Valencian Community located about 40 minutes from Alicante. A place especially loved by tourists from the western and northern parts of Spain. Reason? Over 320 sunny days a year, wonderful wide beaches awarded with the Blue Flag every year and a very healthy microclimate. We can owe it to the huge salt deposits that are located in this place. What’s more, it was the presence of two salt lakes that led to the creation of the city in this place.
Torrevieja is also a great starting point for several other places in the area. There are daily trips to the nearby island of Tabarca. It is also not far from here to Murcia, Elche – the city of palm groves, or the previously mentioned Alicante.
1. Parque de Las Naciones
Parque de Las Naciones is a relatively small city park in Torrevieja that is worth visiting at any time of the year. It is most popular in the summer months, as it is an ideal place to relax in the shade during the heat, but other weather also encourages you to stroll and enjoy the views. While walking along the alleys, it is easy to meet various interesting animals, especially birds, e.g. peacocks, ducks, swans and seagulls. The park also has phenomenal fountains and a pond where you can take a boat ride.
2. City Market
Mercadillo de Torrevieja is an attraction that takes place on Fridays and attracts a lot of locals and tourists every week. Each of these groups visits this place for a slightly different reason – for visitors it is usually a specific atmosphere, full of colors and pleasant bustle, while people living in Torrevieja are primarily interested in very low prices of products.
At Mercadillo de Torrevieja, you can buy practically everything cheaply – from clothes and shoes, through electronics, kitchen appliances and toys, to many types of food.
3. S61 Delfin submarine
Torrevieja is moored to the submarine S61 Delfin donated by the Spanish Navy. It is both a unique exhibit and a miniature “floating” museum, because its interior is open to the public. Thanks to this, you can see with your own eyes what everyday life looked like in such an unusual place. The very small rooms, bunk beds and bathrooms used by sailors on a daily basis are impressive. It is hard to imagine many people living and working in such cramped spaces.
4. Aquopolis water park
The Aquopolis water park in Torrevieja is great fun for the whole family. There are plenty of slides waiting for visitors, both the smallest ones for children and the huge ones that evoke a thrill and are intended for teenagers and adults. Thanks to this, everyone will find something for themselves. In addition, there are many different types of activities for younger and older guests. These include dance lessons and gymnastics, as well as activities for children too young to play in the water, including playing with balloons, games and drawing together.
5. Pier
The spectacular pier Dique de Levante, which is over 1,300 meters long, is one of the favorite places of tourists visiting Torrevieja and the inhabitants of this city. A leisurely evening stroll is a relaxing end to the day after a long sightseeing tour. This is mainly possible thanks to the lanterns located along the pier, which illuminate the route and create an unforgettable atmosphere. A leisurely walk is also made more pleasant by the sea breeze.
6. Tabarca Island
This journey can only be made by ship, from the port in the months from May to October. Tickets can be bought at the port. Tabarca Island is only 2 km long and 400 meters wide, but it boasts a colorful history with pirates and Genoese settlers in the background. Defensive walls, churches and a lighthouse remain from the old days.

It is also worth mentioning that Cartagena is a great place to shop and taste the local cuisine.
9. Elche
Elche Palmeral
An easy half-hour drive north of Torrevieja will bring you to Elche, home to an exciting UNESCO site.
The Palmeral of Elche is a set of date palm groves laid down in the 1990s by the Moors and sustained by sophisticated irrigation systems that still operate today.
In total, there are almost 100 groves, containing up to 200,000 individual trees, some of which are 300 years old.
You can say that there is nothing like it in Europe.
Also Moorish is the palace of Elam’s Altamira, which now houses the city’s archaeological museum, home to magnificent Bronze Age artifacts. In Elche we have the closest football team from LaLiga
10. Los Naufragos beach
The only beach in Torrevieja with real palm trees on the beach, very wide with a gentle sandy descent to the sea, in the summer season (May-October) there are 2 snack bars (We recommend Los Naufragos Beach) and pedal boat rental as well as water attractions for children, volleyball courts, a playground for children, a shower, lifeguards and places for the disabled. You will always find a free seat here.
11. La Zenia
Zenia Boulevard is the largest open shopping center in Europe. Over 160 shops and 5,000 free parking spaces.
La Zenia Boulevard is home to supermarkets and brands well known to Polish customers. There are Leroy Merlin (9,000m2 retail space), Decathlon (5,000m2), Canda store, Worten electronics store, Primark clothing store, Norauto, and a large supermarket with Auchan groceries with a retail space of 14,000m2. In Spain we don’t have Auchan, only Alcampo, although the logo is identical to Auchan.
Part of the retail space of the new center was bought by the Inditex group. This concern includes brands such as ZARA, ZARA home, Massimo Dutti, Stradivarius, Oysho, Pull and Bear, and Bershka. So for fashion lovers and shopaholics now everything under one roof at La Zenia. There will be no need to go shopping in Alicante or in Torrevieja to Habaneras Shopping Centre.
12. Pink lake
The pink lake is part of the Natural Park de Las Lagunas de La Mata y Torrevieja, where, in addition to its unusual color, the flamingos found there are protected. The lake is the largest in Europe and one of the few with such a color in the world, and it owes its color to the crustaceans living in it – thanks to which the flamingos are also pink.
You can see the lake from our sun terrace.

Healthy climate
As an expert from Esphouses explains: Torrevieja is a unique place. Thanks to the prevailing climate, it was recognized by the WHO as the healthiest place to live. This is not only due to the fact that the sun shines almost all year round, but also – and actually above all – due to the high content of salt in the air. Salt deposits located in two salty lagoons located in the middle of the city are the real wealth of this region.
Torrevieja is famous for its very warm climate, different even from the climate in Alicante. The average of sunny days per year is 335
